Detroit Lions Key Player DT Says Goodbye After Being Cut….

Detroit Lions DT Isaiah Buggs bids farewell to Detroit - Pride Of Detroit

On Tuesday morning, Isaiah Buggs bid the city of Detroit farewell on X, the former Twitter. The post read, “The Time Has Come For Me To Say Goodbye,” and Buggs thanked his teammates and the city of Detroit. Detroit 96 is eliminated.

It appears from the not-so-cryptic message that his days as a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions are over. Buggs’ year in Detroit has been quite unpredictable. Upon concluding the 2022 season as an indispensable defensive component, he inked a two-year contract with a maximum value of $6 million, guaranteed at $2.1 million. Unexpectedly, Buggs began the season as a healthy scratch. In 2023, he would alternate between starting and being a healthy scratch from week to week. It appears that the Lions are letting Buggs go permanently with one game remaining.

The presumed release of Buggs opens up a roster spot as the Lions have a slew of players set to return to the roster. Safety Ceedy Deuce (formerly C.J. Gardner-Johnson) is set to make his return from a torn pectoral muscle this week, and DT Alim McNeill is expected to return this week from their own respective injuries. The Lions are also setting up to activate James Houston sometime in the near future.
