Florida State Seminoles Reportedly Confirm Another Key Player Signing…….

Florida State football recruiting: Latest news, offers, commitments, prospects - Tomahawk Nation

Over 2,000 players from all over the nation have used the NCAA Transfer Portal since December. This unprecedented movement is opening doors for players who may not have been able to otherwise, including players moving to a different division. Last offseason, Florida State signed East Tennessee State (FCS) kicker Tyler Keltner to compete with Ryan Fitzgerald for the starting job. Keltner ultimately decided to back up Fitzgerald for the 2023 season before deciding to apply as a graduate transfer last month.

After exploring his opportunities, Keltner has finally come to a decision. On Thursday afternoon, Keltner announced on social media that he was transferring to Oklahoma for his final season of collegiate eligibility. He’ll be competing with redshirt junior Zach Schmit and true freshman Liam Evans for the starting job.

Schmit had one of the worst records in the Big 12 last season, going 15/21 on field goals. When the Sooners move to the SEC in 2024, Keltner will be a part of the program.

The native of Florida played in just one game for the Seminoles. In the home finale, Kelter’s only kick, an extra point attempt, proved successful as Florida State defeated North Alabama.

He played three seasons at the FCS level for East Tennessee State before transferring to FSU. Keltner was chosen by the Buccaneers for the All-Southern Conference in both 2021 and 2022. Over his three years at East Tennessee State, he was 56/76 on field goal attempts and 131/131 on extra-point attempts.

Keltner ranks second in career points (299), and he holds program records for field goals and PATs made. Following his 2021 season-high 105 points and 51 made extra-point attempts, Keltner was selected by the media to the First-Team All-SoCon.

In 2024, starting punter Alex Mastroamnno and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald of Florida State will be back. Jake Weinberg, a three-star kicker, will also join the Seminoles this summer.

Since the window opened in December, the Seminoles have seen the following players enter: quarterback Tate Rodemaker, quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), quarterback Rodney Hill, running back CJ Campbell (FAU), tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel, offensive lineman Bless Harris (TCU), offensive lineman Thomas Schrader, offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson (FAU), offensive lineman Qae’shon Sapp (East Carolina), defensive end Gilber Edmond, defensive tackle Malcolm Ray, defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase (Georgia Tech), linebacker DJ Lundy (Colorado), and linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner enter the portal.

Ashley Moody, the attorney general of Florida, has sided with Florida State in its legal battle with the Atlantic Coast Conference.

On Thursday, Moody’s asked for copies of multiple ACC contracts while FSU and its conference continued their binding legal challenges.

In particular, Moody requested all ACC “financial, business, and membership records” pertaining to FSU in a public records request. These consist of contracts, grant-of-rights agreements, and correspondence with ESPN, the conference’s TV partner.

An announcement from Moody read, “One of Florida’s best universities could forfeit more than half a billion dollars, and the ACC is refusing to turn over the agreements at the heart of this enormous financial penalty.” These documents are being unlawfully kept in a locked location in North Carolina. State laws in Florida and North Carolina, however, make it very evident that these agreements are public records and have to be turned over right away. I’m acting now to make sure that these agreements can be reviewed by the public and FSU.
