Raiders Top Coach pulls stunning move with Team Offensive Coordinator…

Kliff Kingsbury Withdraws From Raiders' Offensive Coordinator Search, per Report

Kliff Kingsbury has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive coordinator position two days after he was reportedly the hire, agent Erik Burkhardt told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday afternoon.

Kingsbury, 44, was the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach from 2019 through ’22 after spending six seasons as Texas Tech’s head coach. Kingsbury totaled a 28-37-1 record in four years with the Cardinals and a 35-40 record during his tenure with the Red Raiders.

Last season, Kingsbury was a senior offensive analyst at USC, and he has been mentioned in connection with several open NFL offensive coordinator positions this year. He also reportedly interviewed for jobs with the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, all of whom have now filled their offensive coordinator openings.

With Kingsbury out, the Raiders still must fill their offensive coordinator position under first-year head coach Antonio Pierce, who had his interim tag removed on Jan. 19. One name that could be a possibility is UCLA head coach Chip Kelly, who has interviewed for the job, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Meantime, the Washington Commanders have interest in Kingsbury for their open offensive coordinator position, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported.

Las Vegas Raiders coach backs out of job, days after reportedly being hired for a major role…

Just two days ago, it appeared the Las Vegas Raiders made a major hire, settling on their new offensive coordinator for the 2024 season. The hire was perceived as a home run, with the inexperienced Antonio Pierce adding a former NFL head coach to his staff. Only now, that deal, which was already believed to be completed, has been canceled.

Kliff Kingsbury withdraws name from Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive coordinator search

In what can only be described as a shocker, the Las Vegas Raiders will not be hiring USC’s Kliff Kingsbury after all. The official news comes directly from Kingsbury’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, who relayed the message to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Basically, Kingsbury has decided to withdraw his name from consideration for the Raiders’ offensive coordinator vacancy, but it is not yet known why. It’s possible USC stepped up and offered him a big raise, or maybe another team with an offensive coordinator vacancy provided a more appealing offer for the former Arizona Cardinals head coach.

No matter what, now the Raiders are back at square one, hunting for their next offensive coordinator, but there are several qualified candidates they have already spoken to. It’s possible we see a quick hire in Vegas.
