Bayern Munich’s signing of Crystal Palace star Michael Olise still isn’t done and Manchester United are ‘trying to hijack’ the deal.

It was over a week ago when Bayern reached an agreement with the Eagles for Olise, and reports suggest the forward is very keen to complete the switch to Germany.

However, he still hasn’t taken his medical, leading to speculation that the £50m deal could collapse in a major twist.

As we have consistently reported, Man Utd are huge admirers of Olise and the 22-year-old fits into Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s philosophy of buying young players with high potential.

Chelsea are another team who have been heavily linked with the Frenchman but it remains to be seen whether they’ll reignite their interest.

Reports suggest that Enzo Maresca has switched his attention to alternative targets, with Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams among those being eyed by the Blues’ boss.

Olise struggled with injuries in the 2023/24 campaign but scored an impressive 10 goals and made six assists from 19 Premier League games.

Ratcliffe is keen to bring in more competition for the likes of Antony, Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo, with Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho expected to leave this summer.

Olise certainly has the quality to play at the very highest level but his likely next destination remains the Bundesliga at this stage.

Late Sunday update from Sky Sports says United are now ‘serious’ about one target, ‘talks’ held

One fresh report this Sunday evening suggests Manchester United are ready to up the ante in their pursuit of Manuel Ugarte.

With Paris Saint-Germain having already given the green light on the midfielder’s potential exit this summer, it’s up to the Red Devils to put the wheels in motion and hash out a deal in the coming weeks.

Florian Plettenberg revealed tonight that Ugarte is now considered a ‘serious’ target for United, as INEOS look to get off on the right foot in their maiden transfer window by bolstering Erik ten Hag’s midfield options.

Talks’ have taken place between the two clubs, while negotiations with the player himself will have to wait until he’s returned from Copa America; the 23-year-old is currently representing his native Uruguay at the tournament, where he’s played the full 90 in both of their group-stage matches thus far.

Ugarte signed for the Parisians from Sporting Lisbon only last summer for a fee of £51.5 million, penning a five-year contract upon his arrival at the Parc des Princes. It’s thought that PSG would be unwilling to take much – if any – of a hit on what they paid for him.

According to a report from Uruguay Fichajes, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder is a priority target for manager Erik ten Hag and an offer of around €35 million could be submitted to Paris Saint-Germain.

The report further adds that the player would love to join Manchester United this summer.

The South American is highly rated across Europe and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He was a key player for Sporting CP during his time in the Portuguese league. There is no doubt that he has the quality to succeed in the Premier League and he could be an important signing for Manchester United.

The Red Devils need to bring in a quality defensive midfielder this summer. Casemiro was quite underwhelming with his performances last season and Manchester United need an upgrade in that position. Ugarte could form a solid partnership with Kobbie Mainoo at the heart of the Manchester United midfield.
