Huston Welcomes A New Star Player On Board…

Breaking: Houston Texans Sign Former Green Bay Packers Star With 125 Career Starts

There is plenty for the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans to be happy about. C.J. Stroud appears to have been the Texans’ franchise quarterback, and Jordan Love is beginning to show signs of being the Packers’ quarterback as well. As the season nears its end, both teams are battling for a spot in the playoffs.

Today, the Texans brought in a former Packers safety with 125 career starts under his belt.

Adrian Amos, a former Green Bay Packers safety, has signed with the Houston Texans.

In his time with the Packers and Bears, Amos was a reliable member of the secondary. He certainly has something left in the tank after finishing the 2022 season with 102 tackles, a career high.

Amos started every regular season game for the Packers during his four years in Green Bay. That included all 16 in 2019 and 2020, and all 17 in 2021 and 2022. He ended his tenure in Green Bay with seven interceptions, one fumble recovery, 362 total tackles, and 15 tackles for loss.

Report: Texans sign S Adrian Amos - NBC Sports

Texans address secondary depth by signing Adrian Amos

Adrian Amos, 30, was waived last week by the Jets. Amos played in 11 games for the Jets, but only started in 3. Amos has recorded 23 tackles and one pass deflection so far this season.

The Texans, who could use some secondary support and a better understanding of the Jets’ defensive schemes, are in a favorable position. Having an experienced defensive quarterback like Amos provide the offense with any tips or cues as Houston gets ready for the Week 14 matchup with the Jets will be beneficial because the Texans are still in the running for the playoffs and every game matters at this point.

Amos will now be on his fourth team, having played four seasons with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers prior to his brief stint with the Jets. Amos has 10 career interceptions and was named to the Pro Football Focus first team for safeties in 2017 and 2020. The former Penn State defender’s playoff experience with the Packers should come in handy for a young Texans defense that is looking to scrap their way into the postseason behind the play of rookies CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr.

We’ll see how much Amos plays in Week 14 with little time to prepare, but given he’s playing against his former team, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Amos take the field and make an impact on the game.
