NCAA punishes Jim Harbaugh for Michigan recruiting violations with 4-year sanction

Texas and Michigan took center stage in Week 2 of the 2024 college football season, but the game largely turned out to be a dud, with the Longhorns rolling to a 31-12 victory over the Wolverines.

It was pretty eye-opening to see Texas saunter into Ann Arbor and comfortably win this game over the defending National Champions, and you can bet they were pumped up to get this win.

While beating them by nearly 20 points was bad, the fun for Texas didn’t stop there. After the clock hit zero, the team raced onto the field and planted a Longhorns flag at midfield, which ended up falling over and covering up Michigan’s logo.

Texas completely disrespected Michigan all day long, and this move will surely only further irritate the team and their fans after their dreadful day at the office.

This was a statement in every sense of the word, and you can bet the Longhorns’ thorough demolition of the Wolverines is going to turn some heads across the league.

Michigan is going to be anxious to bounce back in Week 3, and they will surely have quite a bit of motivation to do so after Texas threw shade at them with this move.

The No. 3 Texas Longhorns went into Ann Arbor as 6.5-point favorites against the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines but left with a 31-12 statement win.

After Texas went up by a score of 7-0 in the first quarter, the Wolverines added a field goal early in the second quarter. The Longhorns then scored 17 unanswered points in the second quarter, and led by as many as 25 points down the stretch.

However, Michigan scored a late touchdown that cut the lead to 19. A score that resulted in starting quarterback Quinn Ewers returning back on the field to run the clock out. This decision led to countless posts from disgruntled college football fans who wanted another glimpse of former five-star Arch Manning.

It’s no surprise that fans wanted another dose of Manning. The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning shined in Texas’ 52-0 win over Colorado State in Week 1. He finished the game completing 5-of-6 passes for 95 yards while adding a touchdown through the air and on the ground.

It also would have been interesting to see the reception he’d receive from Michigan fans after it was rumored his dad flew Texas flags at a hotel near the Michigan campus.

Fans will need to wait and see if the Longhorns can establish a sufficient lead against UTSA in Week 3 to give Manning a chance to get some run.
