$21,855 Fine Appeal Sent Through For The Use Of Helmet In Giants Game…

Josh Jacobs to NFL after $21,855 for use of helmet: "Y'all gotta chill with the bs" - NBC Sports

Raiders running back Josh Jacobs wanted the NFL to “chill with the BS.” Through the appeal process, the NFL has indeed chilled with the BS.

Chad Weistling, Jacobs’s agent, claims that the appeals process led to the revocation of Jacobs’ $21,855 fine for forcing contact with an opponent in a Week 9 game against the Giants by lowering his helmet.

The decision was made by hearing officer Derrick Brooks. it is final and binding on both sides.

Jacobs received an identical fine for a similar play the following week, against the Jets. That fine remains under appeal.

This is a prime example of the fact that the process isn’t final until the appeal is resolved. It also shows that the league should be the one announcing the outcome of appeals, since the league now announces all fines. If it doesn’t, the player should.

Here, the player took that action.

One year ago Baker Mayfield led the Rams to a dramatic win over the Las Vegas Raiders

Today a year ago, Baker Mayfield led the Los Angeles Rams to one of the most unbelievable victories and comebacks in team history. Did I recall being in this moment myself? Not at all! I was reminded by the internet. Do I still recall seeing that particular game? Indeed. It was an Amazon Prime game on a Thursday night. The Rams were playing the Raiders of Las Vegas, and it looked as though the Rams would lose to them. Then this took place:

Crazy and blasphemous for Raiders supporters, bananas! Are you telling me that when Mark Davis fired Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels this season, he had no consideration for this game at all? I know teams claim every year is unique and different. Well, perhaps not considering the Raiders’ string of heartbreaking defeats under McDaniels’ leadership.

It goes without saying that Mayfield, who is currently the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, believes that his career has benefited from his time spent with McVay and the Rams. The fact that Baker was signed by the Rams the week before their Thursday game against the Vegas Golden Knights and was participating in actual NFL action two days later is part of what makes this story so bizarre. Not dissimilar from what Minnesota Vikings rookie Joshua Dobbs accomplished this season after coming off the bench.

Then there’s the backstory about Mayfield and McVay purportedly taking a plane together before the Cleveland Browns selected him with the first overall pick. This is a lot to consider! I’ll keep it brief because it’s Friday; kindly share your thoughts in the comments section below! If nothing else, let’s raise a Friday drink to Mayfield in appreciation of what he did for Los Angeles during the holidays. There are always Rams. Cheers to the holidays!
