All the jerseys worn by NBA rookies and the others donned by veterans went on the auction block Wednesday night. Boston Celtics also received their 2023-24 championship banner and their rings on the opening night. Jayson Tatum’s gold-trimmed celebratory warmup was also on the auction.
NBA fans paid their all attention to the pair of Lakers jerseys worn by LeBron James and his son Bronny on Oct. 22 when they became the first father and son to appear together in an NBA game. The gold jerseys sold together for $102,000.
Bronny James even reportedly surpassed his father’s records as the sales of his jersey skyrocketed. The Lakers sold 500,000 jerseys and made around $50 million in revenue. It’s important to see how the 20-year-old earned brand value when the Lakers already had icons like Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
Apart from him, the gold Lakers jerseys worn by Jared McCain and Dalton Knecht also sold at a huge price. McCain’s jersey went for $20,400 and Knecht’s Lakers shirt was sold for $11,400.
Lakers rookie Bronny James was part of the side that lost to the Miami Heat 134-93 on Wednesday night. However, the James Jr couldn’t get the minutes to feature even in the garbage time. His last appearance came on Nov. 17 in a G League game with the South Bay Lakers.
