Troy Parrott has had success on loan in lower league English football in the previous few years, but this season he has taken his skill overseas in an attempt to win over Ange Postecoglou.

The Spurs player had to put in a lot of effort to be given the chance at Excelsior Rotterdam, but it looks like he has now settled in and become a regular member of the first team.

Alasdair Gold noted in his most recent update for Football.London how good Parrott has been lately, but he also disclosed that despite his best efforts, the 21-year-old was unable to keep his team from losing.

With four goals and two assists in his last eight games, Gold says Parrott has been “stepping it up to a new level” recently at Excelsior and has “pushed himself into the starting lineup” for the Eredivisie team.

Excelsior’s 4-2 loss to Feyenoord over the weekend may have been a disappointing outcome, but Parrott still had a great game.

Even though he “missed an early chance,” Parrott quickly “made no mistake” with a brilliant left-footed finish. Later, Parrott “played a calm, clever pass” to his teammate to tie the score at three, but in the end, it was all in vain.

I’m thrilled for Parrott because I knew it was only a matter of time until he began showcasing his abilities in Holland. Even though an Eredivisie tax is unavoidable, it’s a positive indication that he is moving in the right direction.
