After hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face the previous evening, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors was given an indefinite suspension by the NBA on Wednesday.

Green’s “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts” played a role in his punishment.

This season, Green has been sent off from three games; the most recent one occurred during the third quarter of the Suns’ 119-116 defeat on Tuesday night. With 8:23 remaining in the half, he was ejected for committing a flagrant foul 2 for openly punching Nurkic, who was defending Green, in the face.

Following the game, Green apologized to Nurkic and claimed the contact was accidental.

“He was grabbing my hip, so I spun away and unfortunately I hit him,” Green said. “So, like I said, I apologize to Jusuf.”

ESPN reported that Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Green’s agent, Rich Paul, are expected to meet with Green on Thursday to discuss counseling options for the four-time All-Star.

In addition, Green gained notoriety on November 14 when he was dismissed from the game for headlocking Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert during a scrum on the court. Green was given a five-game suspension as a result of that. On November 11, he was first sent off against the Cleveland Cavaliers after receiving two technical fouls.

According to ESPN, the NBA is hoping that Green will take the time he needs to get help for the problems he is facing because the most recent suspension does not have a set number of games attached to it.

The 33-year-old Green has averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in 15 games this season. He has played for Golden State for twelve seasons.
