5-star Ex-Blue Jays player chastises Head coach for ‘FUNNY’ remarks regarding the signing saga…

Ex-Jays all-star slams Ohtani for 'funny' comment about signing saga | Toronto Sun

Ricky Romero has thrown a brushback pitch in the direction of Shohei Ohtani.

The recently signed Dodgers star made remarks about how he was lounging on his couch while the hopes of a nation were essentially in the air, which the former Blue Jays all-star didn’t take well.

Replying to a social media post about how Ohtani was aware of the flight tracking saga that had many Blue Jays fans hopeful that the Japanese superstar was on his way to T.O. and thought it “was funny,” Romero took a fairly bold stance.

It was undoubtedly extremely “funny.” F his agent, his team. Romero posted on X, which was formerly Twitter. “I never had high expectations for him to visit Toronto. However, many Canadians were, I know, excited. When they visit the city at the end of April, Rogers Centre will be abuzz. By then, hopefully, he’ll be well. It ought to be a good series.

It seems that Romero, like many fans in the Six, feels a little bitterness about being strung along in the secretive process.

We’ll see how fans at the Rogers Centre react when Ohtani’s Dodgers come to town April 26-28, but we’re betting that there won’t be an empty seat in the house.

Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700-million US contract with the Dodgers and was introduced by the team at a news conference on Thursday. The Japanese superstar has won two MVP awards in the past three seasons and had been the biggest free-agent in the history of the sport.

The two-way superstar’s trade was reportedly considered by three teams, with the Jays being one of them. After suffering a crushing defeat to the Minnesota Twins in the wild-card round, Toronto must now turn its attention elsewhere in an attempt to fill gaps in its lineup.
