4-Star Player In A Ton Of Pain As He Losses His Left…

Sherrone Moore breaks down Michigan's win over Maryland, gives injury updates, and celebrates 1000th victory

When Michigan played Maryland in game 11, they were in excellent health. Just two Wolverines players were listed as injured, but La’Darius Henderson, the starting left guard, was one of them.

Sherrone Moore, the Wolverines’ acting head coach, stated that he thinks Henderson will return the following week against Ohio State after the Wolverines defeated Maryland 31-24 on Saturday.

“LD [La’Darius Henderson] was working through something, he’ll be back next week,” Moore informed the media.

On Saturday, Moore started Myles Hinton at LT in lieu of Henderson. Hinton was enjoying his outing until he sustained an injury, and it seemed like he was in excruciating pain when he was lying on the ground. He managed to stand, but it didn’t seem like he could bear much weight on his right knee.

Moore said there was no structural damage to Hinton’s knee. But he’s confident in all the O-linemen that may go in. Once Hinton went out, Moore shifted Karsen Barnhart to LT and inserted Trente Jones in at RT.

“Myles got a little knee — ended up no structural damage or anything,” Moore stated. Nothing out of the ordinary. Trente Jones and Karsen Barnhart were aware—and I mentioned this earlier in the season—that ten offensive linemen would be necessary to win the entire game and accomplish our goals. Everyone was ready, and Trente performed admirably when he entered. Since he is a player of starting caliber, there was no budget for who would enter, so we had complete faith in him when he did.”

Hinton was not the only Michigan player to sustain injuries during the game versus Maryland. J.J. McCarthy connected with Roman Wilson, his top target, for a 23-yard gain in the first quarter. Wilson went straight to the locker room and the medical tent after a Maryland defender hit him high and was called for targeting. However, the call was later overturned and Wilson was not found to have been targeted. Wilson was spotted on the sidelines wearing street clothes after leaving the locker room.

Coach Moore told the media that Wilson was ruled out by the trainers. But it sounds like Wilson was in good spirits and was OK standing on the sidelines with his teammates.

“Obviously, was out, not sure the exact knowledge of what it is, but the trainers ruled him out at that time,” Moore stated. It was the appropriate action for us to take as a staff. They always stay on top of things, particularly when they involve the head. Afterward, he was on the sidelines with us and all was well. Next man up, other guys need to step up. With Big Ten football, that is the situation. It’s physical; such things do occur. The other guys stepped up and performed admirably.

Michael Barrett, a linebacker, sustained minor injuries as well. Following the match, he was spotted with a wrap around his left shoulder. Although he had an AC sprain, he told reporters he should be OK.

Next Saturday, Michigan will play Ohio State at noon on Fox.
