Lion’s Defensive Coordinator Blown Out Of season In Ton Of Pain Due To…

NFL free agency: Lions reportedly signing C.J. Gardner-Johnson to 1-year deal - Pride Of Detroit

C.J. Gardner-Johnson gave the Detroit Lions’ defense a big boost on Wednesday after he resumed practice. Due to an injury, Gardner-Johnson has not played since Week 2, but it appears that he may return to the field soon based on his attendance at practice.

Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has shuffled the secondary plenty in recent weeks, starting Ifeatu Melifonwu the last two weeks at safety. Additionally, Khalil Dorsey made his first start at cornerback last week after Jerry Jacobs had started 12 of the previous 13.

Jacobs missed Wednesday’s practice with a hamstring injury he suffered against the Broncos. Detroit hosted two defensive backs, Thomas Graham and Jace Whittaker, on visits Tuesday.

The Lions’ secondary will have their hands full on Sunday, as Minnesota boasts a talented receiving duo of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, along with tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Minnesota’s offense is featuring its fourth starting quarterback this season in Nick Mullens, but the plethora of weapons around him make the unit very dangerous.

“I just go back to this, the resources you’re gonna use to try to slow (Jefferson) down, it opens up other avenues here,” Campbell stated on Wednesday. If you’re going to do that, the other guys have to be able to win their one-on-one matches. You must do this even though it is difficult. I know that we cannot give him 200 yards again; that much is evident. As a result, we will require some answers.”

NFC North: Detroit Lions win big, Minnesota Vikings lose

The Minnesota Vikings host the Detroit Lions on Sunday in what will be a “White Out” at U.S. Bank Stadium.

With playoff implications for both teams, this NFC North Division matchup is crucial. The Vikings, who have dropped their last four games by a total of six points, are fighting for their playoff lives. They are currently 7-7 on the season, and if they just don’t give up the ball, they’ll likely be 10-4 and competing for a postseason slot rather than a spot.

The Lions come to Minneapolis and can make some history if they leave victorious. At 10-4, Detroit has a three-game lead in the NFC North. A win over the Vikings on Sunday clinches the Lions’ first division title in 30 years, and guarantees them a home playoff game.

The Vikings would then need to beat both the Packers and the Lions at Ford Field in the regular season finale to feel good about their playoff chances.

At the TCO Performance Center on Wednesday, quarterback Nick Mullens, tight end T.J. Hockenson, and coach Kevin O’Connell discussed playing the Lions, returning home, and battling for their postseason lives with reporters.

In order to give players more time to recover after a Saturday game, O’Connell and the staff organized a light walkthrough for the Vikings.
