Cleveland Browns vs. Houston Texans: Week 2 Need to Know - Dawgs By Nature

Throughout the season, the Cleveland Browns have had a lot of injuries, starting with OL Jack Conklin in Week 1 and RB Nick Chubb in Week 2. Along with them on the injured reserve were Rodney McLeod, Grant Delpit, Deshaun Watson, Jedrick Wills, Dawand Jones, Maurice Hurst, and Rodney McLeod.

Only Delpit has a chance of returning this season while DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo has the team holding out hope he can play sometime this year despite reports he’d head to injured reserve.

In Week 16 against the Houston Texans, QB CJ Stroud was not expected to play when he didn’t move ahead in concussion protocol on Wednesday.

Stroud being out was reinforced on Thursday but we also learned that DE Will Anderson Jr. and LB Blake Cashman were also not expected to play Sunday:

This season, rookie Anderson has racked up five sacks, 19 quarterback hits, and eight tackles for loss. Playing in 25% of Houston’s special teams plays and 72% of the team’s defensive snaps, Cashman is a versatile linebacker.

This season, Cashman has racked up 87 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, five passes defensed, five quarterback hits, and one fumble recovery.

Former NFL running back Derrick Ward is in trouble with the law again, and he is facing several felony charges this time.

Ward was taken into custody on Monday after it was alleged that he had robbed several establishments in Los Angeles. Ward last competed in the NFL for the Houston Texans in 2011. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Ward is charged with robbing cash from establishments, including gas stations, by using force and intimidation. He didn’t brandish a gun.

Court records that were obtained by TMZ show that Ward on Wednesday was charged with five felony counts of second-degree robbery.

In addition to the Texans, Ward also played for the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his eight NFL seasons. He was part of the Giants’ Super Bowl champion team that spoiled the New England Patriots’ perfect season in 2008.

Since leaving the NFL, Ward has run into legal issues more than once. A few years ago, the 43-year-old was also charged with abusing his ex-wife and making threats to kill her.
