This past Saturday, Michigan football wrapped up an undefeated regular season by shutting out Iowa 26-0 in the Big Ten Championship Game. After the game, Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh and his team took a break and waited to hear who their next College Football Playoff opponent would be.

According to the most recent predictions, Coach Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide will defeat Michigan in their first game for the third straight year. Entering the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on January 1, Harbaugh referred to the matchup between Saban and Alabama as “iconic.”

In a conference call with media on Monday, the Wolverines’ coach complimented Alabama star quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Harbaugh remarked, “You can see the improvement throughout the season and that he’s playing at an elite level.” It appears that he reached a turning point just prior to the halfway point.

Harbaugh continued, “He’s playing really well within the system.” “They’ve created some amazing things for him. We just discovered the caliber of play that our quarterback, who is similar to him, is playing at. He is outstanding.

Despite holding the top overall seed in the playoffs, the Wolverines have dropped their last two games in the first round of play.

Last season, TCU beat the Wolverines 51-45 as star Michigan running back Blake Corum sat out due to injury. Backup running back Donovan Edwards, the star of the 2022 Michigan football win over the Ohio State Buckeyes, was also suffering with a nagging injury at the time.

It will take a complete team effort for Michigan to defeat the SEC powerhouse Alabama football team on January 5 at 5 p.m. ET. Harbaugh has been preaching this idea ever since the field of four teams was revealed, which is why the Michigan buzzword “BET” stands for “Bringing Everyone Together.”
