The Michigan football team is currently ranked #1 in the nation after winning the Big Ten championship for the third time in a row on Saturday. This season, the Wolverines will compete in their third consecutive College Football Playoff game when they play Alabama football in the Rose Bowl. Despite being a very good team, not everyone likes them. The majority of people who live outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan actually seem to detest the Wolverines. Paul Finebaum of ESPN is among them.

Paul Finebaum covers college football for ESPN, specially SEC football, and he has never had too many kind things to say about Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan football program. Now, the Wolverines are under investigation by the NCAA for alleged illegal sign-stealing, and Finebaum’s criticism of Michigan has been louder than ever since that started. Many of his ESPN co-workers have had similar stances, but one that doesn’t is former Michigan star and Heisman winner Desmond Howard.

“Paul Finebaum is a caricature of a caricature of Paul Finebaum,” Desmond Howard recently said during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. “That’s what he is right now. You can’t take anything he says seriously. You just can’t. It’s like they march him out there, they pull the string in his back, and he just starts spewing negative things about Michigan. When a person does that repeatedly, and you just know his shtick, you can’t take him seriously. You take him for what he is. And that’s how I look at Paul Finebaum.”

Howard did not hold back when talking about Finebaum. This is very interesting to see as both Howard and Finebaum work together, and they often appear on the same shows together. This doesn’t come as a big surprise, however, given Howard’s ties to Michigan. The two of them also recently discussed the Michigan investigation on ESPN together, and they clearly disagreed on the matter.

Going forward, it’s going to be interesting see if Finebaum claps back at Howard with some comments of his own. Based on what we’ve seen from Finebaum in the past, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if he does. It will also be interesting to see if ESPN does anything about it.

For the past few weeks, since Michigan defeated Ohio State, Finebaum hasn’t said much about the Wolverines. He will undoubtedly be rooting for Alabama to upset them in the Rose Bowl, but Michigan fans should watch ESPN the next time Finebaum makes an appearance if the Wolverines triumph over the Crimson Tide.

Michigan Football In Contact With UCLA Transfer Dante Moore - Sports Illustrated Michigan Wolverines News, Analysis and More

The college football transfer portal has only been open for a few days, but there have already been more than 1,200 players to enter it. It seems like every year the portal option is becoming more popular for college football players, and that seems like this case this season. One player that is already getting a lot of attention is UCLA football quarterback Dante Moore. Moore was a true freshman this season for the Bruins, and he grew up in Detroit, Michigan, Because of that, he is getting attention from the Michigan football team as the Wolverines recruited him heavily out of high school.

For awhile, it looked like Dante Moore was going to commit to the Michigan football program out of high school. Given his close proximity to the school and the success that the Wolverines have been having, it made a lot of sense, but he ended up getting swayed by some schools out West, and that’s how he ended up with UCLA.

Now, Bruins head coach Chip Kelly will no longer be with the team next season, and Moore is hitting the transfer portal. Michigan has been in contact with Moore since he entered the portal on Monday night, according to an article from On3. As soon as his name went in, many people expected that this would be the case.

Moore was a five-star recruit in high school and he got a lot of playing time during his freshman season at UCLA. He was the starting QB for awhile, but he had some struggles at times. He finished the season 114/213 through the air for 1,610 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. It wasn’t perfect, but that is fairly common for a true freshman starting for a power five college football team.

The Michigan football team will likely need a new starting QB next season as most people are expecting JJ McCarthy to move on to the NFL after this year. The next QB for the Wolverines will likely come from the portal, and there’s a decent chance that it could end up being Moore.

If Michigan offers Moore, it would certainly be a great option for the rising sophomore. The Wolverines are about to play in the College Football Playoff for the third consecutive season, they are ranked #1 in the country and Moore would be close to home. There is a lot about this situation that makes sense for both parties.
