On Monday, the first day of the portal window, Vandagriff registered as a graduate transfer through the transfer portal and is currently residing in the SEC. Despite his impressive ranking as the 37th overall recruit in the 2021 class, the Bogart, Georgia native was never able to make it up the depth chart and earn a starting position for the Dawgs.

This season, he trailed Carson Beck in passing attempts (18), completing just 12 for 165 yards and two touchdowns in 2023.

He has already graduated from Georgia, but he still has two years of eligibility remaining and will help fill a need at the position for Kentucky.

Before the 2023 season, the Wildcats brought in NC State transfer Devin Leary, who threw for 2,440 yards, 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 12 games. Leary and Kentucky went 7-5 this season and now Vandagriff gives the staff a new option for the 2024 season with Leary running out of eligibility.

Georgia’s quarterback situation is intriguing after Vandagriff’s transfer. The coaches will probably look for additional assistance at the position based on Beck’s decision, as he has not stated if he will return for a second year or leave for the NFL.

Still, head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola committed in the 2024 class, and they have Gunner Stockton on the roster, a former ESPN 300 recruit in the 2022 class.

Raiola ranks as the cycle’s top pocket passer and eighth overall prospect.

Sources: Texas A&M to hire Kansas State’s Collin Klein as OC

Texas A&M is set to hire Kansas State offensive coordinator Collin Klein for the same role under new coach Mike Elko, sources told ESPN.

Former K-State QB Collin Klein hired as Wildcats' quarterbacks coach

Klein, a former quarterback for Kansas State who finished third in Heisman Trophy voting in 2012, had emerged as one of the nation’s top young playcallers. Klein, 34, has spent almost his entire career at his alma mater, serving as quarterbacks coach and becoming the team’s sole playcaller before the 2022 season under coach Chris Klieman.

After the 2022 season, Klein was contacted by Notre Dame to take over as offensive coordinator. Klein has also attracted some interest in head coaching positions.

In terms of scoring (34.9 PPG) since the beginning of the 2022 season, Kansas State is ranked 20th in the country. The offense placed in the top 10 in school history in 11 categories in 2022, the year Kansas State won the Big 12, including second in offensive yards (5,863), fourth in rushing yards (2,916), and fifth in yards per game (418.8).

According to a source, offensive line coach Connor Riley is anticipated to be a contender to succeed Klein. No. 18 NC State and the 25th-ranked Wildcats will square off in the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando, Florida on December 28.

Klein’s early Wednesday acceptance of the Texas A&M job was first reported by GoPowerCat.com.
