Key Player Sells For $25,000 Million. Blames On coach For Wrong Decision

Three Players the Colts Traded….

The Indianapolis Colts lose out on No. 1 draft pick due to Bears/Panthers trade

There are three or four players more obvious than all the others that the Indianapolis Colts could trade away before the NFL trade deadline.

After three straight losses, the Indianapolis Colts sit in last place in the AFC South with a 3-5 record. Quarterback Gardner Minshew, who is projected to start the rest of the season with Anthony Richardson sidelined, is now 1-3 as a starter in 2023.

The Colts are unlikely to be buyers at the NFL trade deadline because of these factors. However, if they chose to sell, they could still take some action prior to the deadline.

Here are three (or four) of the most likely players that the Colts could consider trading before Tuesday’s deadline:

The most sensible trade candidate on Indianapolis’ roster is the seasoned tight end. The Colts have younger, better tight end depth with Drew Ogletree and Kyle Granson. Even more disposable would be second-year tight end Jelani Woods, who is supposedly close to making a comeback to the field.

Due to a concussion, Granson has missed the last two games. But over the previous two weeks, Alie-Cox had a total of two receptions for five yards on three targets, even though he was not in the starting lineup.

Although Alie-Cox has a contract that runs through 2024, there isn’t any dead cap room for him in 2019. He will therefore be a prime candidate to be cut before free agency at the start of the offseason.

The main issue will be finding a suitor interested in a 30-year-old tight end who’s posted just 5 catches for 72 yards this season. Last year, he had 19 receptions for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Furthermore, Alie-Cox has never reached 400 receiving yards or scored more than 4 touchdowns in a season.

The Colts would have to find a team desperate for tight end depth to receive anything meaningful in return for Alie-Cox.

Although the most sensible trade target for Indianapolis would be the seasoned tight end, Blackmon might be the team’s best trade chip.

This is the veteran safety’s year to shine. With 56 total stops and 5 stops for loss, he has already set career highs. Blackmon also has three pass defenses and two interceptions.

According to Pro Football Focus, Blackmon has been the second-best Colts defender with at least 300 defensive snaps this season.

Any team looking to bolster its secondary with a versatile safety would love to add Blackmon. He’s excelled while playing both safety and slot cornerback this season.

A third-round pick from the 2020 NFL draft, Blackmon is in the final season of his rookie contract. He’s one of four key Colts starters who is set to hit free agency in March.

Trading Blackmon would leave Indianapolis’ young and inexperienced secondary even more depleted. But it has to be considered since Blackmon’s on an expiring contract.
