The transfer portal’s top need areas for Georgia football…

Georgia football's top positions of need in the transfer portal

The transfer portal will be used by the Georgia Bulldogs to bolster their roster. Many players have already accessed Georgia’s transfer portal. With 28 commitments in total, the Dawgs have a large incoming recruiting class, though they may choose to fill some positions with more seasoned players.

Using the transfer portal, Georgia expanded its wide receiver room during the previous offseason. The Bulldogs may decide to target a number of different positions this offseason. Over the last two NFL drafts, Georgia has had 25 players selected, which has negatively impacted the team’s roster.

Which positions are the most critical for Georgia football? What positions on the transfer portal might the Bulldogs aim for?

Defensive interior

In 2024, Georgia’s defensive line must exert greater disruption. Defensive tackles like Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter were missed by the Bulldogs.

Walter Nolan, a former defensive tackle for Texas A&M and one of the top players on the transfer portal, may be a target for Georgia. The Dawgs should be a sought-after destination because of their stellar record of producing defensive line talent.

Zion Logue, Nazir Stackhouse, and Warren Brinson might all be selected in the NFL draft.

Outside linebacker

Against Alabama, Georgia’s pass rush did not have enough success. Adding a few more snaps to Jalon Walker’s repertoire might be the answer. Nevertheless, Georgia needs an outside linebacker who is skilled at creating pressure, as this was a shortcoming of the Bulldogs’ defense in 2023.

Wide receiver

London Humphreys, a wide receiver for Vanderbilt, is anticipated to be Georgia’s transfer portal target. Humphreys would add three more years of eligibility and a lot of speed to the Georgia wide receiver room.

Ladd McConkey, Rara Thomas, Dominic Lovett, and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the wide receivers from Georgia, must choose which to draft in the NFL. There are just two wide receiver commitments from Georgia in the class of 2024.

Running back

Georgia’s depth at running back was tested throughout the 2023 college football season. Senior running backs Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton could both return or go the NFL. If both Edwards and Milton head to the NFL, then running back would be a major position of need.

Offensive line

As for Georgia’s offensive line room, it should have plenty going into 2024. Six commitments are included in the Dawgs’ excellent recruiting class at the offensive line position. Dylan Fairchild and Micah Morris, two guards for Georgia, both saw a lot of playing time this season and are expected back next year. Earnest Greene, an offensive tackle, is expected to move back to left tackle.

But guard/tackle Xavier Truss, center Sedrick Van Pran, guard Tate Ratledge, and right tackle Amarius Mims are all expected to declare for the NFL draft. To fill the position, Georgia has even set its sights on a junior college offensive tackle.
