Seminoles Welcomes $300 Million 4-Star Player As He Finds New Colleagues….

The college football world has temporarily shifted from on-field competition to recruiting battles since championship weekend ended on December 2nd. This is because most schools won’t be playing bowl games until the second half of December. Athletes who are currently enrolled in college can transfer schools through the NCAA transfer portal in addition to being recruited in high school; nearly 1,500 entries have already been made in the 30-day window.

More than ten players have already accessed the portal in quest of increased playing time, a scholarship, or NIL money, proving that the Seminoles are not an exception to the rule regarding players quitting. Two bright prospects declared earlier in the week that they planned to visit the portal, despite the fact that the majority of the entries that FSU has seen have been from walk-ons or older players looking for a starting position.

The program was shocked when linebacker DJ Lundy declared on Wednesday morning that he planned to transfer schools. With Tatum Bethune and Kalen DeLoach out of the picture, he was expected to step up to a big role. The redshirt junior was crucial to FSU’s victory over Boston College earlier in the season, averaging 37.6 snaps per contest.

In addition to Lundy, redshirt freshman running back Rodney Hill announced his intentions to enter the portal later on the same day. Although he was behind Trey Benson and Lawrence Toafili on the depth chart, Hill was primed to take on a larger role in the 2024 season, with Benson expected to enter the 2024 NFL draft.\

Another notable entry to the portal is reserve defensive lineman Malcolm Ray. Despite only seeing the field in nine of 13 games this season, Ray was able to cement his role into a heavy defensive line rotation that consitently showed up in big games. The redshirt junior announced his decision on Monday on social media.

Fans and players alike were shocked to learn that these players, who all had significant roles this season, would likely have even bigger roles the following year. Colleagues expressed their shock and support for the two players as they continue their football careers on social media, as well as their rapid reaction to the news.
