Rugby Welcomes $700 Million NRL Star As He Makes Out Big Huge Super Waves To…

NRL star WILL make huge Super League transfer - Rugby League News

NRL star Junior Amone is likely set to test the waters in Super League after his NRL contract was effectively torn up.

Even though Amone had a $500,ooo contract, the NRL effectively terminated it by reregistering the player before 2024. This is after he and his father were found guilty of threatening a man with a hammer.

Amone was given a correctional sentence with 300 hours of community service instead of going to jail. It appears that he will not be able to play in the NRL next season.

The National Rugby League (NRL) has sent St George Illawarra Dragons player Talatau Junior Amone a Notice in accordance with the NRL Playing Contract and Remuneration Rules.

The athlete was given a two-year prison sentence with an intensive corrections order and 300 hours of community service on December 11, 2023, at Wollongong Local Court.

“This sentence followed Amone’s conviction on charges of Intimidation and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm in Company relating to an incident at Warrawong on 15 November 2022.

“Additionally, the player was fined $1,000 by the Court for a charge of Destroy or Damage Property and ordered to pay compensation to the victim.

“The NRL’s wellbeing and counselling services have been made available to the player.”

With no club set for 2024 now, Amone may do what many players barred from the NRL have done in the past and make the move to Super League.

Ben Barba did so in 2017 signing for St Helens before leaving to return to the NRL at the end of 2018. Meanwhile, centre Curtis Scott is attempting to make a similar move right now.

With quota spots up for grabs, Salford Red Devils and St Helens may try to get into the game while Catalans Dragons’ recruitment status is uncertain.

They would probably be interested, but Siua Taukeiaho, who was denied a move to the Canterbury Bulldogs, took their final quota spot. He might still depart, freeing up a quota slot for Amone before the end of the following year. Could the adaptable standoff feature appear in the 2024 Super League?
