All-Star Favorite QB Player On The Houston Texans Reportedly Hospitalized Due To…

Houston Texans Release Ridiculously Long Wednesday Injury Report Ahead of Week 16 - Sports Illustrated Houston Texans News, Analysis and More

If you can name your favorite player on the Houston Texans, there’s a good chance they found themselves on Wednesday’s injury report.

Just days after putting together one of the gutsier wins in recent memory, beating the Tennessee Titans in their building, 19-16, the injury issues have persisted.

It’s possible that things got worse. It’s almost time to disprove the beliefs of those who believed rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud would fully recover from his concussion in just one week. Houston is acting in the long-term best interest of its franchise quarterback, which is understandable, but it appears that he won’t be available for Sunday’s game between the Texans (8-6) and Cleveland Browns (9-5).

Out of the fifteen players on Houston’s injury report, eight were labeled as “Did Not Participate in Practice” (DNP). The most notable ones are tackle Laremy Tunsil (knee), rookie edge rusher Will Anderson JR. (ankle), and Stroud. It was also expected that safety Jimmie Ward (concussion), guard Shaq Mason (calf), and linebacker Blake Cashman (hamstring), who is having a breakout season, would not play.

Tight end Brevin Jordan and receiver John Metchie III both missed practice with an illness.

Of course, rookie receiver Tank Dell’s season-ending injury rendered the pass-catchers less than 100 percent for the rest of the season, but three more were listed on the injury report. Nico Collins (calf) and Noah Brown (hip) both saw limited designations, and veteran Robert Woods was given a rest day.

It’s not yet clear how much of that group will be healthy for Sunday, but it’s reasonable to expect some, if not all, of those receivers to suit up given the stakes of the Week 16 matchup.

On the other side of the ball, defensive tackle Maliek Collins (hip) and linebacker Denzel Perryman (Achilles) were both limited as well.

Alas, there was some good news. The offensive line got healthier with George Fant (hip) being a full participant on Wednesday. Veteran corner Steven Nelson (hand), whose presence would loom large if Ward were to miss time, was also a full participant.

With seasoned quarterback Case Keenum at the center, Houston was able to outlast a mediocre Tennessee team, but Cleveland presents a far more formidable opponent. Leading them at the moment is Joe Flacco, who is their fourth starting quarterback of the year as they also struggle with injuries. But they have managed to remain a playoff contender in the AFC thanks to a strong defense and the playcalling skills of head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Anyhow bad the Browns are, a victory over them would help the Texans establish their superiority.
