Texans QB Stands To Neglect Sunday tie against Opponents…

Texans QB C.J. Stroud leaves with possible head injury vs. Jets

It was announced on Friday by the Houston Texans that quarterback C.J. Stroud will not play against Cleveland on Sunday. After missing Week 15’s game against the Tennessee Titans, Stroud stayed in the protocol following his concussion sustained in the team’s 30–6 Week 14 loss to the New York Jets.

When Texans coach DeMeco Ryans was asked earlier this week whether Stroud’s injury could end his season, he said, “No.”

Quarterback Case Keenum started in place of Stroud, who didn’t practice Wednesday, during the Texans’ 19-16 overtime win against the Titans on Sunday.

Born on October 3, 2001, Coleridge Bernard “C. J.” Stroud IV plays quarterback for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL). At Ohio State, where he played collegiate football, he set numerous school records. He was the first player to throw for six touchdowns three times and had the most passing yards in a single game, at 573.

On September 10, 2023, Stroud made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, where he threw for 242 yards in the 25–9 loss. During Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, Stroud threw his first two NFL touchdowns, one to Nico Collins and the other to Tank Dell, and finished with 384 passing yards in the 20–31 loss.

Stroud’s 384 yards are the second-most in a single game by a Texans rookie quarterback. The following week, against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Stroud finished 20-of-30 for 280 yards with two touchdowns as the Texans won 37–17.

In addition, he became one of only two NFL players in history to record at least 900 passing yards in their opening three games, along with Cam Newton and Justin Herbert. After completing the month with 78 completions on 121 attempts for 906 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions, Stroud was named the Offensive Rookie of the Month for September.

The streak ended the following week against the New Orleans Saints at 191 attempts; Saints linebacker Zack Baun intercepted the pass but had the ball punched out by wide receiver Nico Collins with offensive lineman Tytus Howard recovering the ball for the Texans.

In Week 8, Stroud faced his friend and fellow top draft pick Bryce Young for the first time in the NFL. The game also marked just the third time in NFL history a quarterback has thrown for at least 470 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions, joining Y.A. Tittle and Ben Roethlisberger.

C.J. Stroud is still in the concussion protocol ten days after his injury, according to remarks made by Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans on Wednesday. Stroud’s season could not be ended by the injury, according to Ryans, but the Texans quarterback is expected to miss his second straight game this weekend despite not practicing on Wednesday.
