Antonio Pierce Bluntly Addressed As Raiders’ Full-Time Head Coach…

Antonio Pierce Bluntly Addressed Possibility of Becoming Raiders' Full-Time Head Coach - Sports Illustrated

After leading the Raiders to a 20-14 victory over the defending Super Bowl champions on Monday, interim coach Antonio Pierce has gained the attention of team owner Mark Davis, if he didn’t already have it before the team’s Week 16 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Pierce now stands 4-3 during his brief time with the team after the victory. Following Sunday’s triumph, a number of Pierce’s former teammates and players demanded that he be given permanent consideration for the head coaching position.

But with two weeks left in the season, Pierce is still intent on finishing the ’23 campaign with two more wins. But in response to a question about how he would convince Davis that he is the best candidate to lead the Raiders on a full-time basis, Pierce stated that the evidence was present on the field.

Pierce remarked, “My resume is on the grass.” “I can create an elegant presentation… I’m able to post my resume. However, an opportunity was the best thing that happened to me.

“Hopefully, Mark Davis notices our team’s development and progress, the play style he desires from the Raiders, and a supporting fan base.”

For the first time since 2020, Pierce led the Raiders to victory over the Chiefs. Including Monday’s game against Kansas City and two against the Los Angeles Chargers, Pierce has won four of his last seven games.

NFL.com reports that the Raiders have a 12% chance of making the playoffs right now, sitting outside of the AFC playoff picture. In Week 17, the Raiders (7-8) will travel to take on the Colts (8-7) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Gets Brutally Honest About Volatile Outburst…

The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense collapsed against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day.

Throughout the team’s 20-14 loss, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was unable to create any momentum. Travis Kelce, the tight end that Mahomes relies on the most, only managed five receptions for 44 yards in the end.

Kelce lost it due to dumb errors, bad choices, and penalties. Enraged, he spiked his helmet on the sidelines. Soon after the outburst, a video of it went viral on X, the former name for Twitter. Before Kelce returned to the game, viewers saw head coach Andy Reid give the seasoned player a stern talk.

During the December 27 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce opened up about his sideline incident. He sounded off on how the offense played like “trash” against the Raiders. “We handed that team a win on Christmas. We literally played Santa and gave them a present,” Kelce said. “That was embarrassing.”

“It’s frustrating when you know you got the guys and you got everybody that you need and things just aren’t going your way.”

After the game, Reid explained Kelce’s helmet spike away by saying “things happen,” but Kelce insisted there were no unresolved issues between him and the coach. “I love him because he looks out for me,” Kelce remarked. “I didn’t return to the field and perform well.”

“I reacted badly because he wanted to see the fire in me.” I’m not playing my best football right now, but that’s what he wanted to get out of me. I have to f****** lock the f*** in, take greater responsibility for him and my teammates. As the team’s leader, I have to maintain my composure because that isn’t how you shift the momentum.
