Now let’s move past Christmas and give the Michigan Wolverines and the Rose Bowl on “The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral” our full attention.

We begin the program’s hump day edition by congratulating Caleb Downs, the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year winner for 2023. Since Downs is the second winner in Alabama history, we must contrast him with the previous victor.

Which athlete had a more impressive debut season? Who will win, Downs in 2023 or Anderson in 2020? Over the course of the next two college football seasons, how good could Georgia’s safety be?

We move into a gut-feeling on the way the Rose Bowl will go as far as game-flow as the semifinals are just five days away.

The program continues by discussing the eight Alabama teams that have made appearances in the College Football Playoff. The Tide has won three national championships in the playoff-era but lost three as well.

How does the 2023 squad compare to the other Alabama teams? We give them a ranking of one, but if they can defeat Michigan and the Sugar Bowl winner, they could go up.

Which winning team is the best of them all? Could the 2023 team win against them?

Finally, we talk about the Southeastern Conference’s first three bowl games, which will be played over the next few days between Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Missouri. After all of the opt-outs and transfer portal exits, do the Aggies stand a chance against Oklahoma State?

‘The Simpsons’ pokes fun at Jim Harbaugh over Michigan sign-stealing scandal…

Twitter reaction to Michigan football NCAA investigation sign stealing

Throughout the 2023 season, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has faced criticism because of the sign-stealing controversy involving former employee Connor Stalions. Now that the Wolverines are in the College Football Playoffs and facing Alabama, “The Simpsons” are joining in. The game is about a week away.

In the most recent episode of “The Simpsons,” Bart and Homer construct some deceitful schemes as a way to strengthen their father-son relationship. As the episode comes to a close, Bart is teaching “Cheating 101.”

The Jim Harbaugh Center for Competitive Imbalance is the name of the school where Bart teaches.

Sports fans weren’t the only ones aiming for Harbaugh. The program also made fun of USC and Bill Belichick for their individual scandals over the years.

It’s likely that Harbaugh finds the show’s jabs at him to be of little concern. His main concern is preparing Michigan for the Rose Bowl matchup with Alabama. After two consecutive seasons in the College Football Playoffs, the Wolverines have yet to advance past the semifinal round.

The 13-0 Wolverines are a slim two-point favorite over the 12-1 Crimson Tide going into their New Year’s Day matchup.
