Chelsea Hits Back On As They Welcome A Prolific Star For 2024 “complete” Season…

Todd Boehly must rip up Chelsea transfer plan to secure perfect first January signing - Oliver Jones - football.london

Chelsea can now spend big money in an effort to address their issues once more as the January transfer window is open. Naturally, the Blues tried to accomplish just that in the summer, but as the Premier League table demonstrates, they were unsuccessful in bringing in the necessary players during the previous window, at least temporarily. With the season halfway through and still needing to turn things around, Mauricio Pochettino and company need to do things correctly this time.

With that said, the London giants have reportedly put together a transfer plan to land a player that Todd Boehly dreams of signing this month and one who could really solve Chelsea’s biggest problem.

Chelsea transfer news

Even though Nicolas Jackson hasn’t exactly been the star of the Stamford Bridge team this season, his AFCON departure will undoubtedly annoy Pochettino, who may be forced to turn to players like Armando Broja as the fixtures in England’s top flight continue to pile up.

If not Broja, the Blues still have a chance to find a replacement to start at striker both going forward and in Jackson’s absence, which would finally put an end to their striker problems. However, reports suggest that this new option is unlikely to be the striker Boehly is hoping to sign.

In order to crush Boehly’s dream, Simon Phillips explains on his Substack that Chelsea will not be able to sign Victor Osimhen, a star for Napoli, this month.

At least there was hope for the Blues, though, as the London club decided to make another attempt to sign the Nigerian during the summer transfer window. After they had had time to maneuver around FFP with a few sales, they could then activate his substantial release clause, which is estimated to be worth £120 million, ahead of rival admirers Real Madrid.

Osimhen, who has just signed a new contract in Italy, could be set to make a Premier League switch and perhaps become Chelsea’s ultimate solution under Pochettino, but not until the end of the campaign.

“Complete” Osimhen would put an end to Chelsea’s striker problems

When it comes to high-profile signings these days, Chelsea supporters are frequently left holding their breath, wondering if the new player will become a superstar or add their name to the growing list of transfer disasters. And even though they would naturally be nervous about Osimhen because of his high price, they don’t have to. Whether he signs this month or in the summer, the Napoli forward is a significant upgrade over Jackson and comes at a high price. Osimhen’s more clinical demeanor is further supported by his season-long stats.

The January transfer window provides the perfect platform for West Ham United to build on what has been an incredible first half of their Premier League campaign, with a European place firmly within their grasp.

Striker on David Moyes’ January wishlist

David Moyes currently has three striking options on the books at West Ham, in the form of Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama. The former is only just set to return from injury, whilst Ings and Mubama have been used sparingly off the substitutes’ bench, with Jarrod Bowen often occupying a false nine sort of role at the pinnacle of the Hammers’ attack.

And, with Mohammed Kudus now at the African Cup of Nations for the foreseeable future, there’s even more of a need to bring in an attacker at some point this month.

If the Ultimate Transfer Window Guide by the Daily Mail is anything to go by then a striker is definitely on the radar. Indeed, under the category of ‘who they like’ are players such as Serhou Girassy of Stuttgart, Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth and Marcos Leonardo of Santos over in Brazil.

Exciting striker target emerges for West Ham

Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna is one name that was purposefully left off of the list above. According to The Daily Mail, Zirkzee is a player that West Ham United has also grown fond of. It is unclear how much the striker could fetch, but given that the Italian team has their sights set on Europe, it seems unlikely that they will settle for a pittance given how important he has been to their season thus far.

Zirkzee, 22, moved to Bologna last summer after graduating from Bayern Munich’s academy. He has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 20 games across all competitions so far this season.
