Vikings Set To Sign $17 million……

Vikings Rumors: MIN Projected to Draft Pro Bowler's Replacement

The Minnesota Vikings’ edge rusher Danielle Hunter leads the team with 15.5 sacks this season, which is fourth most in the NFL. But this offseason, he becomes a free agent, and the next season, he turns thirty early.

On the open market, he could bring in a nice sum of money. Before making any more moves, the Vikings anticipate having $39.3 million to spend, according to Spotrac. But perhaps it’s time for a change of direction.

On January 2, PJ Moran of FantasyPros wrote, “The Vikings’ defense has been an awesome surprise under Brian Flores… though they stand to lose top pass-rusher Danielle Hunter in free agency.” Dallas Turner won’t just walk onto a professional field and have a 15-sack season like Hunter does. However, he fits the same type of relentless hunter who is flying off the edge.

It was a strong comeback from 2022, which had been disappointing. Turner’s sack total decreased from 8.5 to 4.0 between his rookie and sophomore seasons. In the final three games for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Turner recorded a sack.

This includes their College Football Playoff Semifinal loss to Michigan, following which Turner, the 2023 SEC Defensive Player of the Year and a one-time All-American, declared categorically that he would declare for the 2024 draft.

Davenport had 2.0 sacks this season before succumbing to injury.

The emerging DJ Wonnum – 8.0 sacks this season – will be coming off major knee surgery next season after getting injured in Week 15.

Harrison Smith and Harrison Phillips are tied for third on the team with 3.0 sacks apiece. That underscores the need for more juice off the edge. They are tied for ninth in sacks as a team. That is in part because of Flores’ scheme which is feast-or-famine in terms of sending pressure.
