Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy has been getting plenty of praise from Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh as the Wolverines prepare to play Washington in Monday night’s national championship game. Some anonymous coaches had some interesting things to say about the quarterback.

“JJ hasn’t played like this in a while, but he was really good against Alabama,” said one Michigan coach who played against the Crimson Tide this year, according to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman and Dave Ubben. “I was more worried about him moving around than he was in the pocket, so we were trying to keep him inside. He’s very quick, and he can really throw the ball really well when he’s running. He makes some really accurate throws from all different arm angles, and he’s better going right, but he can hurt you going left, and he’s deadline to the right.”

McCarthy is attracting attention in the NFL draft due to his performance with Michigan football this year, but some coaches are skeptical of him.
