A 247 Sports story citing sources states that Deontae Lawson is anticipated to return to Alabama and forego the NFL Draft.
The native of Mobile, Lawson started ten games (she was injured during the games against Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Chattanooga) and racked up 67 tackles to rank second on the team in stops. In the Rose Bowl match, which ended in an overtime loss to Michigan, he recorded six tackles and two pass deflections.
The Butkus Award semifinalist was injured in the ankle during a 42-38 victory over LSU earlier in the season.

Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham has declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season. Latham announced the news in a social media post Wednesday evening.
Latham started every game at right tackle for the Crimson Tide over the past two seasons.
Latham wrote on Instagram, “I will always be thankful to coach Saban and his staff for their commitment to developing me into the best version of myself both on and off the field.” “Over the past three years, playing on the field with my teammates has been the greatest honor of my life. We have forged bonds that will last a lifetime.”
Latham was selected by four of the five lists accredited by the NCAA as a second-team all-American. He announced his intention to play professionally along with Dallas Turner, an outside linebacker.
From IMG Academy, he was a five-star prospect when he joined the Crimson Tide. During his time in Tuscaloosa, the 6-foot-6, 360-pound Latham lived up to that ranking, emerging as possibly Alabama’s best offensive lineman.
On Wednesday, players from Alabama entered the transfer portal after the season ended in a flurry of activity. However, some will remain in Tuscaloosa, as defensive lineman Tim Smith and linebacker Deontae Lawson of the Crimson Tide are expected to return there rather than play professionally next season, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.
The decision to turn pro will also be faced by cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry.
