Florida Gators’ 2025 SEC Rivals Reviwed…

Gators' 2025 SEC Opponents Revealed - Florida Gators

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In the age of the NCAA transfer portal, there is no guarantee that one team will look the same or similar year-to-year. But as Florida prepares for an intimidating 2024 schedule featuring three top-six and six top-25 squads from last season’s College Football Playoff rankings, it learned that it will meet the same opponents in 2025 — on flipped terrains. On Wednesday, the Southeastern Conference announced its eight-game slates for member programs next year, further distancing itself from the nine-SEC game schedule of the past with Texas and Oklahoma joining the league from the Big 12 this offseason.

Following the Gators’ first matchup with the Longhorns since 1940 in 2024, Texas will travel to meet Florida in Gainesville in 2025, for the first time since 1939. Texas will be one of UF’s three true home opponents in 2025, as the annual Florida-Georgia will be held in Jacksonville, Fla, on Nov. 1. Tennessee and Mississippi State will also travel to Gainesville, the latter for the first time since 2010. Conversely, Florida will head to Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M for its conference road slate. Matchups with the Wildcats and Tigers will continue two of the Gators’ long-standing annual SEC series.

Three of Florida’s four non-conference bouts will occur in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Gators will host USF on Sept. 6, Florida A&M on. Oct. 11 and Florida State on Nov. 29. Miami will host Florida to complete a home-and-home series on Sept. 20. The Hurricanes will face the Gators in The Swamp to open the 2024 season, on Aug. 31. Receiver Vernell Brown III plans to be in town on Thursday as the Gators are hoping to make up ground with the receiver. Ohio State is the team with the most buzz around them right now but there’s still a long way to go in Brown’s recruitment.

Athlete CJ Ingram also plans to be in town on Thursday as he’s a guy that’s rising in the recruiting rankings around the country. Ingram is a talent prospect who plays quarterback in high school but his long-term future could be at receiver. Florida sits in a good spot for Ingram early on.

Florida defensive line commit Jalen Wiggins plans to be in town to watch his first practice on Thursday. Wiggins has taken some trips to other schools, but he remains solid with the Gators and has a great relationship with the coaching staff. Thursday is another chance for the Gators to show Wiggins why he committed in the first place.

Cleveland running back Marquise Davis will be in Gainesville starting Thursday and he doesn’t plan to leave until Saturday. Davis is from Ohio so the Gators have some work to do with him but he has a great relationship with running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and Florida hopes to gain ground during the multi-day trip.

Offensive lineman Mal Waldrep will get his first chance to meet with the coaching staff on Thursday and he’s looking forward to seeing Rob Sale in action. Waldrep is a big offensive lineman out of Alabama who the Gators and others like a lot.

One big name in the 2026 class that’s expected in town on Thursday is quarterback Will Griffin who has been a frequent visitor in Gainesville. The Gators are in good shape early on with Griffin but several other schools are also in the mix.

2026 defensive back Devin Jackson also plans to be in town on Thursday and he’s another guy that has been on campus a lot in the past.
