Buffalo Bills  Drops A New Star Player On Buffalo’s Latest Signing For 2024 Season…

Bills Lose Out on Signing $85 Million DT After 'Done Deal' Report

The Buffalo Bills are working hard to rebuild their roster ahead of the 2024 NFL season. After the Bills abruptly cut multiple key veterans to get cap-compliant, there were a lot of holes to fill.

However, Buffalo did re-sign defensive tackleC to a two-year, $16 million contract. The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia wrote of Jones, “Of all the re-signing options, Jones is easily the most important for next season. The defensive tackles room is bare without a starting option at one technique.”

After two weeks of free agency, the Bills still hadn’t signed another defensive tackle, which was concerning. But on Saturday, March 23, Jones was the first to announce that Buffalo found his backup in Austin Johnson, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport posted about 20 minutes later, “Sources confirm: Austin Johnson is signing a 1-year deal with Buffalo to play alongside former teammate DaQuan Jones. The deal is worth up to $4M.”

Johnson and Jones were teammates at Penn State in 2013. During the 2014 NFL draft, Jones was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round. Two years later, the Titans drafted Johnson in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft. They were reunited as teammates until Johnson signed with the New York Giants in 2020. Two years later, Johnson signed a two-year, $14 million contract with the Chargers.

Johnson confirmed he was heading to Buffalo on his Instagram Stories and gave Jones a shout-out. He reposted the news announcement and wrote, “And yes @dqj_90 is the best recruiter out” with two laugh-cry emojis.

NFL teams will allow certain players to walk in free agency and make strategic moves to maximize what compensatory picks they will receive in the upcoming NFL Draft. Now, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is revealing how his team and the San Francisco 49ers got a “raw deal” from the league office this year.

Mistakes are sometimes made when the NFL is calculating its compensatory picks for the upcoming draft. While the formula is kept in-house, Nick Korte of Over The Cap has accurately projected compensatory picks for NFL teams in recent years.

When the NFL announced its 2024 compensatory picks in early March, Korte noticed what seemed to be mistakes made by the league based on their historical cutoff point for awarding picks in certain rounds. Among the errors made by the NFL Management Council were third-round picks that should’ve been awarded to the 49ers (Mike McGlinchey or Jimmy Garoppolo) and Bills (Tremaine Edmunds).

The NFL admitted some of its mistakes and corrected them a few days later. However, San Francisco and Buffalo were not part of those corrections. Speaking at the NFL Owners Meetings this week, Beane explained why he believes his team and the 49ers got a “raw deal” from the league.

As Beane noted, NFL teams check with the league office throughout the year to make sure they are still on track to receive specific compensatory picks. That knowledge allows a general manager to shape their plan in the NFL Draft, knowing what resources they’ll have at their disposal for picks and trading.

As a result, Buffalo and San Francisco went through the season understanding they would receive third-round compensatory picks in the 2024 NFL Draft because of the free agents lost last offseason. Instead, they learned that was not the case, with both teams instead they received a late fourth-round pick.

Unfortunately for Buffalo and San Francisco, the NFL’s decision is made and the fact that it already corrected mistakes for other teams suggests a change isn’t coming for the Bills or 49ers. Considering both teams are especially reliant on draft picks in the coming years due to a tight salary cap, it’s an even bigger blow for both front offices.

While the NFL released many new rule changes this week, the Buffalo Bills announced their new season ticket prices, and they went up… a lot! While it is not surprising that the ticket prices are gong up as the Bills are one of the best teams in the NFL year in and year out with Josh Allen, fans are still shocked and outraged, as many will not be able to purchase the seats like they have for years.

The NFL is at an all time high with viewership and fan engagement so it makes sense that costs may go up across the board. The Salary cap has gone up the most it ever has in one season, and the Bills will not be the first great team in the league to change their season ticket pricing.

According to the Buffalo News, the season ticket prices are going for about $15,000 to $50,000 per seat. These are the top seats meaning the suites and club seats. This is a huge increase from the current prices for fans. This does not come as a huge surprise as the new stadium will be much nicer. However, this will stop many of their biggest and longest fans from being able to purchase the season tickets each year.

Bills mafia is one of the craziest fan bases in the NFL and while they may get too crazy at times, they are some of the realest fans in the league. One huge fan and long time season ticket holder, who has had season ticket for the Bills for more than 50 years, revealed that she may not be able to get tickets in the future after this raise in prices. Now she is wondering if she will be even be able to get them for this season.
