Racing community morns a legend

The racing community in southern Kentucky was left devastated after the passing of well-known driver Rod Carter Jr.

Carter was driving down Interstate 75 on Thursday when he suffered a blowout leading him to hit the concrete median and later died from his injuries.

Carter had been racing for decades in southern Kentucky, collecting multiple awards while leaving an incredible impression on those that knew him.

While many knew him as a driver, Carter’s family said he was much more than that. His attributes off the track are what people remembered the most.

We are told the initial plans were to have his funeral at a place where a lot of people are going to be able to attend, and they also want to decorate his casket similarly to the way his race car was.

London Police is investigating the crash which took place near the 41 mile marker.
